BENKELMAN -- Clinton Stewart Munn, 75, died Friday (Feb. 15, 2002) at Gulf Pointe Plaza in Rockport, Texas.
He was born December 3, 1926, to Lloyd and Blanche (Stewart) Munn on the family farm in Cheyenne County, Kan.
He graduated from Bird City High School in 1944, and in October of that year, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was accepted for Naval Airman training. He served for 18 months before receiving his discharge and returning to the family farm.
On May 18, 1947, he married Mary Lou Nighswonger, at the home of the bride's parents, west of St. Francis.
He farmed his entire life on the farm where he was born and raised.
He was a member of the American Legion, the McCook Elks Lodge, and the McCook Eagles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; daughters, Nancy and husband, Bill Anderson of Blair, and Diane Malleck of Spokane, Wash.; brother, Clyde Munn of Anchorage, Alaska; and two grandsons.
Services were today at Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman with the Rev. George Matthews officiating. Interment with military honors was in the Bird City Cemetery at Bird City.
