BEAVER CITY -- Fay Ann Shackleton, 92, died Thursday (Feb. 21, 2002) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.
She was born June 20, 1909, to Ray and Josephine (Barnes) Smith at Reamsville, Kan. In 1920, the family moved to Almena, Kan.
On Feb. 8, 1931, she married Howard Shackleton at Phillipsburg, Kan. The couple lived in Kansas, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. She worked at Wagner's Grocery Store in Arapahoe. In 1971, the family moved to Beaver City and she worked at Beaver City Manor.
She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in Beaver City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; one son, Bob; three sisters, Ruby Rawson, Amy Smith, and Fern Harper; and two brothers, Paul and George Smith.
Survivors include one son, Bill and wife, Wanda Shackleton of Grand Island; one daughter-in-law, Dr. Carol Shackleton of Gothenburg; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Grace Brethren Church in Beaver City with Pastor Dwain Fowler officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City. Visitation is Saturday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday, 1 - 8 p.m., and Monday, until the services at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City.
