Gladys L. Poindexter

Gladys L. Poindexter died Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) at the Ambassador Rehab Center in Lincoln due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She was 84 years old.

Gladys was born Jan. 9, 1918, at Dennis, Kan., to Francis and Nellie (Banta) Watson. She lived all of her childhood and attended school in southeast Kansas.

On Jan. 20, 1937, she married Charles G. Poindexter. They lived in Kansas until moving to the Trenton area in 1962.

Gladys was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting and gardening. She especially enjoyed providing transportation to those in need. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Bethel Missionary Church and the Bethel Women's Group.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles on Feb. 18, 1988; and two brothers, Harold Watson and Lloyd Jones.

Survivors include her sons, Larry Poindexter of McCook and Gary Poindexter of Trenton; three grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie and Brandon Poindexter; one great-grandson, Hunter Scott; sister-in-law, Maxine and husband, Cleo Algrim, of Augusta, KS; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Gwen Frans and the late Jim Frans, Barb Stejskal, Matt Stejskal, John and Lisa Holt and Paul Holt all of Lincoln.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Bethel Missionary Church in Culbertson. Officiating will be Don Egle and Mark Hunter.

Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta, Kan., Wednesday, 1 p.m.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m.
