OBERLIN -- Queenie V. Critchfield, 89, died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at Decatur County Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1912, to Elmer "Jack" and Rosa Bell (Barnes) Smith in rural Decatur County. She grew up on a Decatur County Farm northeast of Oberlin. She attended country school south of McCook.
On June 7, 1941, she married Raymond Leroy Critchfield in Wakeeney, Kan. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Oberlin Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; five brothers, Charlie, Elmer, Lee, Pete, and Oliver; and three sisters, Gracie Richardson, Katie Van Pelt, and infant sister, Letha Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Herbert and wife Elsie Critchfield of Alden, Kan., and Martin Critchfield of Denver; one daughter, Sandra and husband, Fred Counter of Oberlin; five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, 1 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment was at the Leland Cemetery in Graham County, Kan.
Memorials may be left in her name at the Oberlin Methodist Church or the Oberlin City Library.
