CULBERTSON -- Kenneth D. Ruppert, 80, died Sunday (March 3, 2002) at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.
He was born June 20, 1021 to Earl and Florence (Bussard) Ruppert in the Quick Community in Frontier County. He graduated from Curtis High School and the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis.
On Dec. 31, 1941, he married Leona Magee at Oberlin. He entered the U. S. Army on Sept. 29, 1942, and served during World War II. Following his discharge from the military, he returned to the farm north of McCook until his retirement in 1976. He purchased and operated the Half Moon Cafe in Culbertson.
He was a member of the Culbertson American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Leona of Culbertson; three sons, Allen and wife Gloria Ruppert of Maxwell, Wilber and wife, Sue Ruppert of Culbertson and Bernard and wife, Pam Ruppert of McCook; two daughters, Della and husband, Clinton Fox of Holdrege and Merna and husband, Steve Benson of Culbertson; 20 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Rev. Don Murphy officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.
Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook which is in charge of arrangements.
