BROKEN BOW -- Dale Henry Young, 89, died Saturday (March 2, 2002) at the Jennie Melham Memorial Hospital in Broken Bow.
He was born Oct. 12, 1912, to George Almer and Flora (Ford) Young at their home north of the Lillian Church. He graduated from Gates school in 1930.
He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in March 1942, and served until Nov. 25, 1945. He received his training in Seattle, Wash. and Corpus Christi, Texas.
On Feb. 6, 1946, he married Beulah Lien Ellis in Portland, Ore. In 1982, they were awarded the Pioneer Family Award. He was a member of the Walworth Methodist Church until its closing in 1968, and then became a member of the Lillian Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Howard; two sisters, Gladys Lysinger, and infant sister, Iris; and one son-in-law, Ben Sebesta.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah; three sons, Stanley and wife, Nancy Young of Broken Bow, George and wife, Eileen Young of McCook, Lt. Commander (retired) David and wife, Karen Young of Oklahoma; three daughters, Barbara Jean Sebesta of Chadron, Valerie and husband, Duane Kelly of Elm Creek, and Laurie Louise Fauss of Giltner; three long-term foster daughters, Lisa Drum Coyou of Minn., Corrina Drum Edwards of Sioux City, and Jane Ash Prescott Cottom of Hastings; one sister, Dorothy Myers of Durango, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; 15 foster grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, 2:30 p.m., at the Lillian Church of Christ with Rev. Jim Stark officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials may be given to World Vision or Samaritan's Purse.
