Sara Z. Lacey, 98, died Saturday (March 9, 2002) at her home in McCook.
She was born Dec. 16, 1903, to Casper and Marie (Schneider) Zailer in McCook. She grew up at Culbertson where she graduated from Culbertson High School. She also graduated from McCook Junior College and Kearney State College.
She taught school at District 2 in Hitchcock County, Lexington, and McCook.
On May 25, 1925, she married William Lacey. They made their home on a farm north of Culbertson. She moved to McCook in 1959.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1950; three brothers, Alexander, George and John; and one sister, Lydia Cook.
Survivors include one son, William and wife, Jean Lacey of McCook; and two grandsons.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at First Congregational Church in McCook with the Rev. Rod Church officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook. The casket will remain closed at the church.
