TRENTON -- Josephine K. Hawkins, 90, died Thursday (March 14, 2002) at Community Hospital in McCook.
She was born May 10, 1911, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Baumfalk) Berger at Ludell. She grew up on a farm south of Trenton and attended Trenton High School.
On Nov. 5, 1924, she married Ross P. Hawkins at Atwood. The couple spent their lives farming in the Trenton area.
She was a member of the Trenton United Methodist Church and the Idle Hour Club of Trenton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; her parents; five brothers, Loyd, William, Gareld, and Ora Berger and Harvey Baumfalk; two sisters, Nina Fuller and Leota Morrison; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Delores and husband, Wayne Porter of South Sioux City, Dottie and husband, Jeff Hoffman of Beatrice and Detta and husband, Tom Chapman of Ashland; two sons, Dwayne "Duke" and wife, Jeanette Hawkins of Melborne, Fla., and Don and wife, Betty Hawkins of Thermopolis, Wyo.; one sister, Burnes Montgomery of Littleton, Colo; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Trenton.
