STRATTON -- Betty Joy Latta, 77, died Tuesday (March 26, 2002) at Haven Home of Kenesaw in Kenesaw. She was a resident of Stratton.
She was born Aug. 8, 1924 at Wray, Colo., to Albert M. and Zelma B. (Harding) Latta. At an early age, she moved with her family to Stratton. She graduated in 1943 from Stratton High School, and worked as a clerk at the grocery store in Stratton for many years. She later cared for children in her home for several area families.
She was a life-long member of Community United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Zelma Latta; and brother, Paul Latta.
Survivors include three sisters, Marjorie Miles of Stratton, Dorothy and husband, Wayne Baker of Hot Springs, S.D., Donna and husband, Bud Grosse of Greeley, Colo.; and two brothers, Albert (Bert) and wife, Redonda Latta, Willard (Bill) and wife, Arda Latta, both of Stratton.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Community United Methodist Church in Stratton with the Rev. Norman Prather officiating. Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 7 p.m. at Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton.
In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be given to Stratton Ambulance or to Grandview Retirement Center. Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton is in charge of arrangements.
