IMPERIAL -- Earl Dean Francis, 64, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.
He was born June 19, 1937 in Ringwood, Okla., to John and Bertha (Campbell) Francis. He grew up in the Ringwood and Ames communities and graduated from Ames High School in 1955. He worked in elevator construction throughout the midwest until he joined the U. S. Army in 1960. He served in Germany from 1960 until 1962. Following his discharge he resumed construction, including work on the Enders Co-op Elevator.
On Aug. 12, 1962, he married Delores Kunnemann in Imperial. They farmed northwest of Imperial until 1989 when they moved to town. They owned and operated the Capitol Mobile Court and later Capitol Liquor until 2000.
He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Zion Lutheran Church. He served on both the District No. 6 and the Chase County School Boards and on the Republican State Central Committee for a few years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Kirk; and one brother, Joe.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; two sons, Michael and wife, Heather Francis , and Jason Francis, all of Imperial; one daughter, Michele and husband, Stacy Cochran of Champion; two sisters, Mary Lee Maycumber of California and Lois May Holland of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the Imperial Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Rober Frank officiating. Burial will be in the Imperial Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name.
