Ronald Eugene Wach was born on July 10, 1938, to Harold and Anna Mae (Graves) Wach at the rural home near Hamlet. He departed this life on April 4, 2002, in McCook, Neb., at the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He attended a rural grade school north of Hamlet and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1956. On June 5, 1960, he married Jean Maris at Hamlet Union Church in Hamlet, NE. To this union were born two sons, Loran and Jared.
After living in the Hamlet area several years, they purchased the farm west of Hayes Center where he resided until his death. The farming life and living in a small community brought him great joy. He especially cherished wheat harvest when the whole family would work together in the field. At the end of a long harvest day, everyone enjoyed the times of laughter and fun teasing around a big table of food. Ron enjoyed carpentry and did much of the work building their rural home. He also enjoyed watching athletic events in the area, especially if his children or grandchildren were participating.
Ron was active in the community having served on the Hamlet school board and the Hamlet Co-op board. He was a member of various other agricultural related organizations. He was a DeKalb Seed dealer for 22 years. In 1989, he contracted a rare neurological infection called Whipple's Disease, which greatly reduced his ability to function as he had in the past. In 1990, at the age of 52, Ron placed his trust in Jesus Christ as his personnel Savior and later became a member of Hamlet Union Church. The last several years he enjoyed traveling, helping in the house and yard work, listening to KRVN, attending church functions, dining out with Jean and visiting his children, grandchildren and other relatives.
He leaves to mourn him, his wife, Jean of Hayes Center; two sons, Loran and wife, Nancy of Wauneta, Neb., Jared and wife, Tammy of Ogallala, Neb.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert and wife, Roberta Maris, Ervin and wife, Elaine Bley, and Sandra Morris all of McCook; eight grandchildren, Lance, Alex, Larissa, Andrea and Wesley Wach of Wauneta and Joel, Adam and Kaylee Wach of Ogallala; one brother, Gary Wach and wife, Ricky of Farnam, NE., along with many other relatives and friends.
