CAMBRIDGE -- Anna June (Lynn) Walkington, 83, died Wednesday (April 24, 2002) at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.
She was born June 10, 1918, to Albert Edwin and Karen Marie (Engaard) Lynn in Minden. She graduated from Minden High School in 1936. She took her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Nebraska in home economics and education, receiving her degree in 1940. She taught high school in Minden, North Platte, Stapleton, Brainard, Indianola, Cambridge and Red Willow schools.
On Aug. 22, 1948, she married Samuel A. Walkington Jr. She moved into the Cambridge Manor in 1999 due to health reasons.
She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the BC Chapter of the PEO sisterhood, 1620 Circle, 20th Century Club and the Congregational Church of Cambridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Engaard E. Lynn.
Survivors include her husband, Sam of Cambridge; two daughters, Mary Lynn and husband, Jim Schaffer of Lincoln, and Sue Ann and husband Jeff Mollring of McCook; one sister, Virginia Thorndike of Santa Barbara, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Hazel and husband, Dean Miller of Bertrand, Ada Knapp of San Diego, Calif. and Hilma Flint of Cambridge; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, 9 a.m., at the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Cambridge with Pastor Dana Keener officiating.
Memorials may be given in her name to the First Congregational Church.
