ARAPAHOE -- Darrel Roger "Swede" Graning, 67, died Tuesday (April 23, 2002) at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
He was born July 19, 1934 at Arapahoe to Harry and Laura (Monter) Graning. He graduated from Arapahoe High School with the Class of 1952.
In 1955 he entered the U. S. Army and served until 1957.
On Sept. 24, 1960, he married Connie Rodenbeck at Arapahoe. He worked numerous jobs including the Holbrook Coop and Weverka Sand & Gravel Co.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Hot Springs, Colo. and Arapahoe, Isaac Walton Club, and Holbrook Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wayne; and infant sister, Clara.
Survivors include his son, Scott Graning of Holbrook; daughter, Theresa Vaughn of Minden; sister, Darleen and husband, Rev. Harlan Harnapp of Broomfield, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Burial will be at the Immanual Cemetery at Arapahoe with military honors given by the American Legion Post 343 of Edison.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Williamson-Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe.
