OBERLIN -- Helen Corcoran, 95, died Monday (April 29, 2002) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
She was born Feb. 23, 1907, to Oswa and Malinda (Worley) Traxler in Oberlin. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1925 and attended Fort Hays State for one year.
On June 25, 1929, she married William Jefferson Corcoran in Selden. The couple made their home in rural Decatur County. She was a homemaker. She moved in to Oberlin in 1986.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; two sons, Donald and Bruce; two brothers, Marshall and Homer Traxler; two sisters, Ruth Eicher and May Snoden; three half-brothers, Charlie, Raymond and Lawrence Traxler; two half-sisters, Mabel Faloon and Jessie McHenry; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include four sons, Robert and wife, Patricia Corcoran of Tarantum, Pa., Bernard Corcoran, Raymond Corcoran and Paul and wife, Angela Corcoran, all of Oberlin; two daughters, Barbara and husband, Warren Mitchell of Gillette, Wyo. and Frances Nothdurft of Oberlin; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 9 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin with the Rev. James Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in her name.
