JENNINGS -- Elmer E. Petracek, 68, died Tuesday (May 7, 2002) at his farm home northwest of Jennings.
He was born Feb. 15, 1934, to Joseph and Oliva (Vacura) Petracek, Jr. He graduated from Jennings High School in 1952.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1957-59.
On Feb. 28, 1959, he married Roberta Ballard in Oberlin. The couple made their home on the family farm near Jennings. He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Lodge in Jennings.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phillis; and one sister, Ellen Shaw.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta of Jennings; two brothers-in-law, Sonny Ballard and wife, Mary of Sterling, Okla. and Donald Shaw of Selden; three sisters-in-law, Alice Fisher of Fort Cobb, Okla., Jada Jensen of Vacus, Minn. and Joy White of Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Pastor Glenn Krebs and Sister Marilyn Wall officiating. Interment will be in the Big Timber Cemetery in rural Jennings.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Friday after 8 a.m.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Phillis Petracek Nursing Scholarship Fund.
