EVANS, Ga. -- Roger Allen Kidd, 64, died Sunday (May 26, 2002) at his home in Evans, Ga.
He was born Nov. 17, 1937, to Ned and Alma Jo Kidd at Trace Branch, Ky. where he spent his childhood. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 64.
On Aug. 22, 1964, he married Alice Mary Ruzicka in Denver, Colo. They moved to Lexington, Ky., where he continued his education and completed a master degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1970, they moved overseas where he worked in Civil Service for the Defense Communications Agency. His tours of duty took him to Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Hawaii. In 1980, they moved to Evans where he was manager of the U.S. Army TRADOC at Fort Gordon, Ga. until he retired in 1995. In 1998, he obtained his professional engineer's license from the State of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Jo Ann Grant, June Ray and Judy Parish.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; one son, Jeffrey Allen Kidd of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Julie and husband, David Keller of Sharpsburg, Ga. and Jean and husband, Gary Nistler of Irmo, S.C.; special nephew, Michael Grant of Columbia, S.C.; brother-in-law, Albin Ruzicka of Stratton; sister-in-law, Margaret Sughroue of McCook; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 30, at Platts Belair Road Chapel in Evans.
