PORTLAND, Ore. -- Helen I. Carlson, 75, died June 5, 2002, in Portland, Ore.
She was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Lindsay, Calif., to Louis and Vera Quinlan. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1944. The same year, she moved to Portland to attend Pacific Bible College which later became Warner Pacific College.
On May 27, 1948, she married Frederick M. Carlson, formerly of Trenton. She taught at Warner Pacific College for a time before the family relocated in 1963 to Powers, Ore. Over the next few years, the family moved quite a bit before they settled in Fairview, Ore. in 1979. For 17 years they owned and operated "The Little Red Store."
She was a member of the Rockwood Church of God and the Warner Pacific College Torchbearers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1993.
Survivors include four daughters, Cherrie Conklin of Baker City, Ore., Peggy Carlson of Athena, Ore., Sally Lorenson and Jody Lewis of Portland; one sister, Maureen Maiden of Junction City, Ore.; and ten grandchildren. Local survivors include several members of her husband's family in the Trenton area.
Memorial services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Warner Pacific College McGuire Auditorium.
