Marjorie Burton Fletcher

EL CAJON, Calif. -- Marjorie Burton Fletcher, 94, died Wednesday (June 19, 2002) in El Cajon, Calif.

She was born July 18, 1907, to Charles and Margaret (Hayes) Burton in Franklin. She received her education in Rural School Districts 68 and 2, graduating from Franklin High School in 1925. She taught in one room schools in Franklin and Chase Counties.

On April 9, 1927, she married William Willis Fletcher at the Methodist Parsonage in Franklin with Pastor Normal G. Palmer officiating. They lived in Hayes County until 1935, when they moved to Palisade. They moved to California in 1987.

She joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in Franklin in 1921. She transferred to Methodist Churches in Palisade, Riverside, Calif., Orangevale, Calif. and Santee, Calif. She taught Sunday School and Bible School and was a member of various boards and committees, holding various offices in the United Methodist Women. She attended Bible study and prayer groups.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; two infant sons; two sisters, Martha and Mildred; and one grandson.

Survivors include one son, Carleton Fletcher and wife, Kimi of Chula Vista, Calif.; four daughters, Margaret and husband, Clifford Berger of Riverside, Calif., Janice and husband, Ronald Yungling of Orangevale, Calif., Maxine and husband, Paul Seyforth of Arnold, Calif. and Mary and husband, Jack Yablonski of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Charles Burton and wife, Maxine of Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be July 12, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the Palisade United Methodist Church.
