DENVER -- Russell D. Vernon, 76, died Tuesday (June 25, 2002) at Portercare Hospital in Denver.
He was born March 10, 1926, to Roscoe and Mabel (Holben) Vernon in Decatur County. He graduated from Decatur Community High School and was in the Army. He also served in World War II European Theater.
On Sept. 21, 1946, he married Frances Capps in Oberlin. He worked as a cement mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances.
Survivors include one son, Rodney Vernon of Littleton, Colo.; three daughters, Karen and husband, George Klocker of Northglen, Colo., Luann and husband, Bart Henthorn of Raleigh Durham, N.C., and Lori Blake of Houston, Texas; one sister, Maxine Hill of Norwich, Kan.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, 3 p.m., at Kanona Cemetery with interment at the same cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
