Blanche L. Cheney

SELDEN, Kan. -- Blanche L. Cheney, 78, died Saturday (June 27, 2002) at Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital in Denver, Colo.

She was born May 22, 1924, to Joseph and Avis (Phillips) Turrell at Rexford. She was raised on a farm north of Rexford. She attended Hopewill Country School.

On Dec. 1, 1940, she married William Cheney in Colby, Kan. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Rexford Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; two sons, Earl and John; two brothers, Don and Clifford; one grandson; one grandson-in-law; and one nephew. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn and husband, Alvin Korte of Garden City, Kan., Lois Hake of Montrose, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Cheney of Selden; two brothers, Clyde Turrell and wife, Frances of Rexford and Billy Jo Turrell and wife, Pat of Colby; one sister, Lola Skiles of Colby; brother-in-law, Jim Cheney of Rexford; two sisters-in-law, Velma Turrell of Phoenix, Ariz. and Grace Cheney of Rexford; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Rexford Community Church with the Rev. Lane Purcell officiating. Interment will be in the Rexford Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorials may be given in her name.
