HERNDON -- Rose Mary "Rosie" Solko, 96, died Friday (July 5, 2002) at her home in Herndon. She was born March 25, 1906, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Neuberger) Solko in a sod house in rural Rawlins County. She attended a country school, call the Brown School and later attended St. Mary's Parochial School at Herndon. She was a lifelong resident of Herndon.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church and the Christian Mother's Altar Society, both of Herndon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Clara, Mathilda and Lidwina Solko, Agnes and Helen Lippold and Josephine Marintzer; brothers, Herman, Al W. and Clarence Solko.
Survivors include two brothers, William Clement Solko and Ernest Lawrence Solko and wife, Sarah, all of Herndon; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon with Father Louis Mattas officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery at Herndon.
A vigil and rosary service will be today, 7:30 p.m., at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon.
Visitation will be today until 5 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church after 6 p.m., and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name.
