Belmont E. 'Butch' Shreffler

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Belmont E. "Butch" Shreffler, 85, died Sunday (June 16, 2002) in Sacramento, Calif.

He was born Aug. 24, 1916, to Edmond and Cora Belle (Duter) Shreffler in Fairbury. He grew up in the Palisade area and moved to Sacramento in 1937. He served in the Philippines during World War II. He was supervising plumber at McClellan AFB for 31 years. He retired in 1971. He was also the owner and operator of his own plumbing business until the 1990s. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents; two brothers, Edward and George and four sisters, Emma, Nellie, Carrie and Clara.

Survivors include one sister, Fay Sheriff of Palisade; step-son George and wife, Joyce Bradshaw; two step- grandchildren and three step- great-grandchildren.

Services were Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Nicolleti Funeral Home in Sacramento. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sacramento.
