NORCATUR, Kan. -- Everett N. Pruitt, 86, died Wednesday (July 10, 2002) at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kan.
He was born March 1, 1916, to Everett Newton Casto Pruitt, Sr. and Veda Lillian Bailie at Osawatomi, Kan. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
On May 1, 1946, he married Agnes Johnson in Carthage, Mo. The couple resided in Wichita, Kan. where he worked at J. S. Dillon before moving to Grand Lake, Colo. in 1960, where they operated a grocery store and cafe. He also worked at the Winter Park Ski Lift. In 1979, they moved to Oberlin and then Norcatur two years later.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Kermlin, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willard and Alvin Pruitt; and three sisters, Phyllis Bremmer, Barbara Raines and Nadine Pruitt.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Norcatur; one sister, Rita Heideman of El Dorado, Kan.; and one niece, Beth Johnson of Norcatur.
Graveside services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Norcatur Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Keller officiating.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Oberlin.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Norcatur News Sheet or the Norcatur Cemetery Fund.
