William 'Bille' Rogers

WICHITA, Kan. -- William "Bille" Rogers, 75, died Saturday (July 20, 2002) in Wichita, Kan., of heart failure.

As a young man, he worked near Hayes Center on his uncle's farm.

He married Arles Bruce of Hayes Center.

He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea where he was awarded a Silver Star for heroism in battle. Later the couple traveled to army posts in Texas, Michigan, Kentucky, Germany, and Washington State. The couple retired to Denver in 1966. He later became a carpenter, retiring for the second time in 1992. The couple later moved to Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arles.

Survivors include four sisters, Faye Avers, Jean McMichel, and Arlis Marston all of Colorado, and Hulda Snow of Phoenix; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Saturday, August 3 at 11 a.m., at the Hayes Center Cemetery.
