OBERLIN -- Edith M. Richards, 99, died Thursday (Aug. 8, 2002) at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.
She was born March 20, 1903, to Boyd Allen and Nora (Cody) Holliday in Decatur County. She attended school in Bellville, Kan. until third grade and then moved to Cedar Bluffs.
On Jan. 1, 1921, she married Elmer L. Richards in Oberlin. She was a farm wife and wallpaper hanger.
She was a member of the United Church of Oberlin and the Oberlin American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 70.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, George Richards; one daughter, Betty Robbins; five brothers, Virgil, Floyd, Roy, Lloyd and Bill Holliday; one sister, Pauline Holliday and one granddaughter, Julie Buturlia. Survivors include two sons, Johnnie and wife, Christine Richards of Olathe, Kan., and Norman Richards of Oberlin; two brothers, Charlie and wife, Eloise Holliday of St. Francis and Elmer and wife, Peg Holliday of Kimball; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, 1-8 p.m., Sunday, 1-8 p.m., and Monday, 8 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be left in her name.
