Kevin Ross Karre, 25, of Aurora, Colo., died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Feb. 14, 1977, in Grand Island to Lonnie and Lora (Koker) Karre. He was baptized as an infant and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his preteens. His passions including living in Colorado and wearing his Husker gear faithfully among the Colorado fans. He also enjoyed numerous outdoor sports such as hunting, snowmobiling and dirt bike riding in the mountains.
He graduated from Gateway High School in Aurora in 1995, and served on the U.S.S. Nimitz in the Persian Gulf and around the world from 1995 until 1998.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa and grandma, Bill and LaVerne Karre and his grandpa Harry Koker.
His is survived by his parents, Lora and fiancee, Jerry Andresen of Aurora and Lonnie and step-mother, Susan Karre of Grand Island; step-brother, Adam Hurlburt and wife, Heather, of Omaha; step-sister, Bonni Meckel of Grand Island; and grandmother, Lora Koker of Loup City.
He was also survived by aunts and uncles, Vi and Herb Spalding of Omaha; Jean and Russ Lent of Auborn, Wash.; Harriet and Maynard Franzen and Gerald and Leona Koker all of Arcadia, Neb.; Gordon Karre of Omaha; and Kathy and John Mabile of McCook; and numerous family and friends.
Services will be Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at 10 a.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Pastor Curtis Holzworth of Grand Island officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell 2 p.m., with full military honors.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m.
