Ena Pauline Phipps

HAIGLER -- Ena Pauline Phipps, 90, died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 2002) at Hillcrest Care Center in Wray, Colo.

She was born Feb. 20, 1912, to Claude and Alma (Bernard) Frasier north of Benkelman. She attended country school near the family's home. She graduated from Wauneta High School in 1929. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and studied dietetics for two years. She taught at Ash Grove near her parents farm after she left college.

On May 28, 1935, she married Hansel Phipps of Whitman. The couple made their home near New Castle, Wyo., for three years and then moved to a farm near Haigler.

She was a member of the Haigler Methodist Church, Federated Women's Club, the United Methodist Women and the Rainbow Extension Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hansel; and three brothers, Kenneth, Wilber and C.O. Survivors include one son, Roger Lee Phipps of Haigler; one daughter, Joan Cynthia and husband, Roger Luebbe of Seward; one sister, Virginia Dixon of Benkelman; one brother, Merle Frasier of Pampa, Texas; one sister-in-law, Lela Mae Frasier of Ogallala; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Monday, 1:30 p.m., at Haigler United Methodist Church in Haigler. Interment will be at Benkelman Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2-4 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman.

Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman is in charge of the arrangements.
