Erek Alexander

LIBERAL, Kan. -- Erek Alexander, 7, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2002) at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson, Kan. of a sudden illness.

He was born June 11, 1995, to Kevin and Julissa Alexander at Liberal, Kan. He was attending 2nd grade at McKinley Elementary School in Liberal. He had attended 1st grade at Southlawn Elementary and Kindergarten at Turpin Grade School in Turpin, Okla.

Survivors include his parents, Kevin Alexander of Liberal and Julissa Alexander of Overland Park, Kan.; grandparents, Arden and Dianne Alexander and Martha Martinez of Liberal; great-grandparents, Harold Clouse of McCook and Rogelio Martinez of Albuquerque, N.M.; one uncle; and two aunts.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 3 p.m., at the First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal with the Rev. Jim Monroe presiding. The family suggests that the friends wear bright colors to help celebrate his life. Burial will be in the Liberal Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Erek Alexander Memorial Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 West 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.
