LINCOLN -- Margaret B. "Peg" McCallum, 93, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) in Lincoln.
She was born July 31, 1909, to Dr. Robert C. and Laura (Sexton) Byers in Nickerson. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1927. She then attended Randolph Macon Women's College in Virginia for one year and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1931.
On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Al Delos McCallum. They moved to Wauneta in 1940 where they ran the Pioneer Insurance Agency for over 35 years. She moved to Lincoln in 1997.
She was a member of the St. Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook, St. Mark's on-the-Campus in Lincoln, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son; two sisters, Patricia and Eleanor; and one brother, Dr. R.C. Byers II.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Anne and husband Jerry Puls of Lincoln; one brother, Dr. Malcolm S. Byers of Medford, Ore.; one brother-in-law, Richard P. Fuchs of El Macero, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Deolores McCallum of Omaha; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Marks-on-the-Campus in Lincoln with the Rev. Don Hanway officiating. Inurnment will be Thursday, 10 a.m., in Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta.
There will be no visitation.
