OBERLIN -- Vada Lucile Shaw, 97, died Thursday (Aug. 22, 2002) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was born June 5, 1905, in Decatur County to Harry Lewis and Lizzie (Wolley) Armstrong. She attended West Liberty School District No. 20 and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1924.
On June 3, 1928, she married Clyde L. Shaw in Oberlin. She worked as a school teacher. She also worked as the Registrar of Deeds and in the treasurer's office. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and moved in to Oberlin in 1964. She was a member of the Oberlin United Methodist Church and the Oberlin Lions Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; one son, Neil; one daughter, Nila; one daughter-in-law, Eva Lee Shaw; three brothers, Lee, Harry and Elmer; and one sister, Vyra Hanson.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Shaw and wife, Evelyn of Tallahassee, Fla., and Don E. Shaw and wife, Lorna of Florissant, Colo.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today, 11 a.m., at the Oberlin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment was at the Oberlin Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Decatur County Museum, the Oberlin United Methodist Church or the Oberlin Lions Club.
