Thelma W. Baumbach

Thelma W. Baumbach, 83, died Monday (Aug. 26, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born Nov. 14, 1918, to William and Magdalena (Klein) Baumbach on a farm in the Ashcreek Community. In 1920, the family moved to McCook. She graduated from Peace Lutheran School. In 1930, she survived the polio epidemic, being left with a slight handicap. She was employed as a switchboard operator at the St. Catherine's and McCook Community Hospitals for 30 years. She retired in 1982. In June 2002, she moved to Willow Ridge.

She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in the Ashcreek Community and confirmed in 1932 at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook where she was an active member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, William, Edwin, Lorenz and Henry Baumbach; and three sisters, Clara Breitling, Esther Breitling and Margaret Rogers.

Survivors include one sister, Ella Ford of McCook; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. Carl Pullmann officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
