Sarah L. Dutton

IMPERIAL -- Sarah L. Dutton, 88, died Tuesday (Aug. 27, 2002) at the Imperial Manor.

She was born Jan. 7, 1914, to John and Ethel Bowley at Victoria Springs, Neb. She graduated from high school at Merna.

In 1934, she married Renold E. Dutton at which time they made their home in Anselmo. She was a partner with her husband in various businesses in Anselmo and Imperial. She was an in-house barber, beauty operator and seamstress. The couple lived in Anselmo until 1957, when they moved to Imperial. Except for a short period of time as a resident at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, she spent the rest of her life in Imperial.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Methodist Church and the Look-Out Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Renold, in 1991; two sisters; and two half-sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene and husband, Howard Raymond of Madison, Ala. and Carol McAlhaney of Blair; two sons, Richard Dutton and wife, Marilyn of Loveland, Colo. and Douglas Dutton and wife, Janice of Imperial; two half-sisters, Ruth Bolen and Ruby Crisp; one half-brother, John Bowley; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Saturday, 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Imperial.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Imperial Community Center.
