ARAPAHOE -- Clyde E. Chambers, 73, died Monday (Sept. 9, 2002) at his home in Arapahoe.

He was born Nov. 27, 1928, at Lyle, Kan. to Arthur L. and Mary A. (Warner) Chambers. He attended grade school through eighth grade at a country school.

He graduated from Decatur County High School in 1946. After graduation, he started farming and ranching in the Wilsonville and Lebanon areas and also in Kansas. He retired for health reasons in 2001.

On Oct. 12, 1949, he married Ramona Warner in Lebanon.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wilsonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Isabelle Vanover; and five brothers, Silver, Keith, Dwight, Ferris and Carroll.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona of Arapahoe; two sons, Craig Chambers of Omaha and Kent Chambers and wife, Deena of Wilsonville; one brother, Lester Chambers and wife, Agnes of Oberlin; two sisters, Ruby Strayer of Norton, Kan. and Inez Diedrich of Carlsbad, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Presbyterian Church of Lebanon with the Rev. Dr. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name.
