CAMBRIDGE -- Helen M. (Currie) McCarville died Wednesday (Sept. 11, 2002) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She was 68 years old.
Helen was born on Feb. 13, 1934, on a farm near Wayne, Kan., to Joseph Milek and Amelia Edna (Klaumann) Proft. Amelia died May 26, 1946. Joseph then married Sarah (Washburn) Milner in 1951.
Helen attended school at Belleville, Kan. and graduated in 1951. She married Allen Currie on Aug. 6, 1951. From this union three children were born, Lea Ann, Lana and Marc.
On Aug. 4, 1990, she married Francis McCarville at McCook. Francis' son Don became a part of her family. She was a physical therapist assistant at Hillcrest Nursing Home for many years.
She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, dancing and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was involved in Girl Scouts and New Comers for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph, Amelia and Sarah.
Survivors include her husband, Francis of Cambridge; children, Lea Ann and husband, Elza Doak of McCook, Lana and husband, Randy Richter of Hayes Center, Marc Currie and wife, BamBe of Kearney and Don McCarville and wife, Tami of Alliance; sisters, Wilma and husband Bill Snapp of Belleville, Kan. and Frances and husband, Rich Gehrke of Herrington, Kan.; a brother, Paul Milner and wife, Sandy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Amelia and Marcie Doak of McCook, Sara, Evan and Blaine Richter of Hayes Center, Tyler, Lerrin and Cameron Currie of Kearney, Summer McCarville of Phoenix, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, 2 p.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given in her name.
