Wayne Donald Schilke

IMPERIAL -- Wayne Donald Schilke, 57, died Monday (Sept. 23, 2002) at the Chase County Community Hospital.

He was born Nov. 23, 1944, to Robert F. and Anna (Johnson) Schilke at Imperial.

On Feb. 6, 1971, he married Helen Mae Dixon. They made their home in rural Champion, where they engaged in farming and ranching.

He was baptized Feb. 25, 1945, and confirmed in the Lutheran Church March 22, 1959. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Anna Marie; and two brothers, Marvin and Kermit.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Champion; three sons, Daniel Schilke, Thomas Schilke and Kenneth Schilke and wife, Sonya all of Champion; three brothers, Robert J. Schilke and wife, Twila, Dorman Schilke and wife, Marla and Larry Schilke and wife, Diann all of Imperial; sisters-in-law, Doris Schilke and Lois Schilke both of Imperial; and his companion of several years, Susan Kane of Imperial.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial with the Rev. Robert Frank officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

Visitation is today until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The casket will be closed at the church.

A memorial has been established in his name.
