ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Herbert Edgar Conboy Sr., 72, died Aug. 20, 2002, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born Aug. 17, 1930, to Virgil and Charlotte (Bailey) Conboy in Hayes County. He graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis. After graduation he moved to Gunnison, Colo., where he worked as a ranch hand and then for Homestake Mining before moving to Albuquerque. He worked as a laborer under Labor Union Local No. 16 until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Virgil and Donald.

Survivors include two daughters, Fay and husband, Larry Failing of Albuquerque and Jean and husband, George Claypool of Palisade, Colo.; one son, Herbert "Butch" Conboy Jr. and wife, Victoria of Pueblo, Colo.; one sister, Evalyn Clancy of Dawson; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be Saturday, 4 p.m., at the Palisade Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of arrangements.
