Wesley M. "Skip" Derauf, 53, died Thursday (Sept. 26, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born April 9, 1949, to Robert and Arvera (Petersen) Derauf at Trenton. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1967.
He entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to McCook.
On Aug. 26, 1972, he married Mary Hassler at Trenton. They spent their married lives in McCook where he was employed in the grain industry as a merchandiser.
He was a past commander of the Stellges-Baker American Legion Post at Trenton and served as the past commander of the 9th District in Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of McCook; one son, Joe and one daughter, Danielle both of McCook; one brother, Timothy Derauf of Kansas City , Mo. and one grandson.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Herrmann Funeral Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Mike Simmons officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
