Helen May Hansen
HAYES CENTER -- Helen May Hansen, 92, died Thursday (Oct. 3, 2002) at her home in Hayes Center.
She was born Feb. 9, 1910, in the Blanche Community, in Chase County to Thomas Lee and Anna May (Grist) Barnes.
On March 13, 1929, she married Hans Hansen in Oberlin. They lived in Hayes Center all of their life. She was employed for more than 30 years in the Hayes County Court House. She was also employed at the bank.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Hans in 1971; and two brothers, Charlie and Gilbert Barnes.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Hansen and wife, Shirley, of Hayes Center and Delbert Hansen and wife, Ruth, of Brule; three daughters, Doris and husband, Darrell Messersmith, of McCook, Lea and husband, Fred Unger, of Hayes Center, and Shirley and husband, Bill Ashley, of Culbertson; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Union Congregational Church in Hayes Center with the Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in the Hayes Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home and at the church Saturday from10-11:30 a.m.
