BEAVER CITY -- Jean Bauer, 93, died Sunday, (Oct. 13, 2002) at the Beaver City Manor.
She was born Feb. 16, 1909, at Beaver City to Earl E. and Selina (Smith) Hopping. She graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1927. Following graduation, she taught at County School at Edison. The following four years she attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She then taught at Mullen and North Platte.
On June 11, 1937, she married Dale A. Bauer at Beaver City. They moved to New York where he was a patent attorney. She moved to Colorado in 1999 and then to the Beaver City Manor in October of 2001.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Beaver City and later transferred to a Methodist Church in New York. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the Historical Society of Early American Decoration.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale in 1995; sister, Florence Haase; and brother, Charles Hopping.
Survivors include two daughters, Mardi and husband, Lee Carter of Lewiston, Idaho and Janet and husband, John Miller of Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver City with Keith Theobald officiating. Burial will be at Deaver Cemetery in rural Beaver City.
Viewing will be today until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home and Friday prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name.
