Charles William Sughroue

Charles William Sughroue, 75, died Tuesday (Oct. 15, 2002) at McCook Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 28, 1927, at Indianola to Francis W. and Johanna (Schutte) Sughroue. He attended Indianola Schools.

On May 8, 1945, he entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 15, 1946.

On May 20, 1952, he married Rita M. Ryan at Indianola. She preceded him in death in 1978. On May 2, 1981, he married Margaret (Ruzicka) Gillen at McCook. He farmed all of his life in the Indianola area.

He was a member of the building committee for the new Republican Valley Elementary Grade School and served on the Republican Valley School Board for two terms. He was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Rita; an infant son, Francis; one brother, Gerald Sughroue; and one sister, Mary Lyons.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sughroue of McCook; one son, Harry Sughroue and wife, Lorraine of McCook; two daughters, Mary and husband, Dee Traphagan of McCook and Christina and husband, Rex Ostrander of Tulsa, Okla.; five step-daughters, Pam and husband, Rich Eckstein of Linwood, Gail and husband, Russ Craig of Omaha, Karen and husband, Greg Weidner of Madison, Nancy and husband, Rich Case of Omaha, and Mary and husband, Jeff Pavel, of Papillion; three brothers, Donald Sughroue and wife, Jean of Cambridge, James Sughroue and wife, Leah of Indianola and Tom Sughroue and friend, Mary Vrbas of Culbertson; two sisters, Frances Allen of McCook and Nellie Ryan of Cambridge; sister-in-law, Ann Sughroue of Lincoln; nine grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will be in the St. Catherine's Cemetery.

The rosary will be recited today, 7 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel.

Visitation is today until time of rosary at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name.
