Vera Mae Meissner, 86, died Monday (Oct. 28, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born Aug. 14, 1916, in Telephone, Texas, to Jesse and Ida Mae (Wheeless) Shrum. She grew up at Telephone and Bigbee, Texas where she received her education.
On May 31, 1930, she married Noel Lankford at Honey Grove, Texas. He preceded her in death.
On Jan. 21, 1962, she married Louis Ernest Meissner at McCook and they spent their married lives in McCook. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Noel Lankford and Louis Meissner; one daughter, Wilma Hudson; one step-son, Bob Meissner; one step-daughter, Mildred Price; and three brothers, Ashley Miles, Earl Shrum and Ray Shrum.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty and husband, Kenneth Bradley of McCook; two sons, Floyd Lankford and wife, Jackie and Jim Lankford all of McCook; one step-daughter, Eva Carstensen of Laurel; one sister, Alice Foster of Durant, Okla.; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in McCook with the Rev. Stan Hendershot and the Rev. James Denny officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
