HOXIE, Kan. -- F. Eldon Hayward, 73, died Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2002) at the Sheridan County Hospital in Hoxie, Kan.
He was born Dec. 30, 1928, to Denzil H. and Maude Marie (Gretchen) Hayward in rural Valliona, Kan. He was raised in Oberlin and attended rural grade school. He graduated from Decatur County Community High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was married to Lavina Stimbert. He was a farmer.
He was a member of the Oberlin American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lavina; brothers, Laurel and Glenvyn Hayward; and sister, Fern Butler.
Survivors include his companion, Jean Bacon of Hoxie; one brother, Gail Hayward of New Stratton, Pa.; one sister, Eileen and husband, Jack Armstrong of Houston, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Hayward of Oberlin, Doris Hayward of Littleton, Colo., and Sissy Hayward of Vanderbilt, Pa.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Bishop W.G. Romine II officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Living Word Fellowship.
