AMARILLO, Texas -- Darrel Jerome Malleck, 69, died Thursday (Nov. 7, 2002) in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born March 10, 1933, to Charles L. and Lorene Agnes Malleck in Indianola. He attended McCook Junior College for two years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In 1957, he married Lois Lorene Carroll in McCook. He was retired from Burlington Northern Railroad after more than 30 years of service as a Railroad Detective. He was employed by Laidlaw Transportation as a school bus driver for the handicapped at the time of his death.
He was a member of St. Laurence Cathedral in Amarillo and a coach for Kids Incorporated.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Lorene "Carroll" Malleck of Amarillo; daughters, Eileen Chappel of Mission, Texas, and Debbie Duke of Princeton, Texas; sons, Donald Malleck and David Malleck of Amarillo and Leonard Malleck of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his mother, Lorene Agnes Malleck of McCook; brothers, Kenneth Malleck, Eugene Malleck and Robert Malleck all of McCook, Archie Malleck of Killeen, Texas and Loyce Malleck of Denver, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral mass will be Monday, 10 a.m., at St. Laurence Cathedral in Amarillo with Retired Bishop Leroy T. Matthiesen officiating.
Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7 p.m., at the Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories in Amarillo.
