CAMBRIDGE -- Vesta Lucille Proud, 90, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002) at the Cambridge Manor.
She was born Oct. 11, 1912, on a farm south of Bartley to Guy and Daisy (Bush) Ritchie. She attended rural school and graduated from Bartley High School with the class of 1930. She taught in rural schools for five years.
On July 7, 1934, she married Glen "Dutch" Proud at Beaver City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen "Dutch" in 1987; and one brother, Pat.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Proud and wife, Murietta of Indianola and Jim Proud and wife, Nancy of Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with Roy Hart, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at the Bartley Cemetery at Bartley.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Bartley Rescue Squad.
