ARAPAHOE -- Charles A. Breinig, 71, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born May 24, 1931, in Furnas County to Floyd and Mamie (King) Breinig. He grew up and attended school in Arapahoe and graduated with the class of 1948 from Arapahoe High School. After school he farmed with his father and later his sons.
On Sept. 29, 1983, he married Mary Jane Oswald at the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, a board member of Tri-State Livestock of McCook, Elks Club, Furnas County Commissioner, a member of the Furnas County Livestock Association and the American Angus Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a step-son, Randy Oswald.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane of Arapahoe; two sons, C. Douglas Breinig and wife, Deb and Dennis Breinig and wife, Kelly of Arapahoe; two step-sons, Mark Oswald and wife, Mary of Lincoln and Sam Oswald of Globe, Ariz.; special daughter, Brenda and husband, Terry Norblade of Axtell; two brothers, F. Duane Breinig and Victor Breinig and wife, June of Arapahoe; two sisters, Lula Mae and husband, Chuck Six and Eula Fae and husband, Neal McCoy of Arapahoe; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Hyeongdon Baek officiating. Burial will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in his name.
