Edith L. Heidemann, 85, died Thursday (Dec. 12, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born Aug. 22, 1917, to Frederick and Wilhelmina (Kisker) Heidemann in Bielefeld, Germany. They came to the United States in 1923, where they resided south of McCook before moving to Atchinson, Kan., in 1925. They returned to McCook in 1931 where they purchased a farm south of town. She was employed for many years for JC Penney before moving to Denver, Colo., where she worked for the Denver Dry Goods Store. She returned to McCook where she was employed by Schilz Jewelry and retired from Peterson Jewelry in 1988. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church where she was confirmed May 3, 1931. She was also a member of the Lutheran Ladies Guild and served as a volunteer in the Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Herbert A. Heidemann.
Survivors include cousins, Harvey Hofman and wife, Ramona, Joann and husband, Paul Martin, Ruth Ann Hackenkamp, Velma and husband, Herb Lauer, Dennis Kisker and wife, Janice, Adella Kisker, Delbert Kunkee and wife, Marilyn and Don Kisker and wife, Norma all of McCook.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with the Rev. Carl Pullmann officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may sign the register at the funeral home.
