ARAPAHOE -- Maude Edith Breinig, 93, died Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
She was born Aug. 12, 1909, to Albert S. and Ida M. (Oatney) King at Arapahoe. She attended country school south of Arapahoe and then went to Arapahoe High School through the tenth grade.
On Jan. 18, 1930, she married August Albert Breinig in Norton, Kan. They made their home on the family farm south of Arapahoe. Besides helping her husband farm, she also hauled corn for him as he worked as a corn sheller. Following his death in 1992, she moved into Arapahoe. She moved to the Elwood Care Center in September of 1995.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, Rebecca Lodge and Mid Valley Club of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, August; brother, Ray King; and an infant granddaughter.
Survivors include one son, Lyle Breinig and wife, Janice of Arapahoe; two daughters, Margaret and husband, Harvey Herbert of Arapahoe and Doris and husband, Darrel Rauch of Byers, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Dr. Hyeongdong Baek officiating. Burial will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given in her name.
