MERRIAM, Kan. -- Joe Bill Tickles, 59, died Monday (Dec. 9, 2002) in Branson, Mo.
He was born Feb. 20, 1943, to Charlie and Ada Katrina (Hamm) Tickles Jr., in Banner, Va. In 1961, he moved to the Kansas City area.
On June 26, 1982, he married Yvonne S. Rice at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Overland Park, Kan. For 30 years he worked as a truck driver for Safeway, Food Barn and Associated Grocers.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Teamsters 995 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 87.
He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Brian; and one brother, Rockey.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne of Merriam, Kan.; one daughter, Kathy Bard of Tonganoxie, Kan.; one son, Michael of Lisle, Ill.; his mother, Katrina of Lenexa, Kan.; two brothers; three sisters; sister-in-law, Verleen and husband, Bob Kuhlmann of McCook; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday (Dec. 13, 2002) at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Overland Park with the Rev. Ostman officiating. Interment was in Shawnee Mission Memorial Gardens at Shawnee Mission, Kan.
