CULBERTSON -- Lydia Alberts, 92, died Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2002) at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
She was born Dec. 6, 1910, to Henry and Elizabeth (Rutz) Schlager in Neudenhof, Russia. In 1913, the family came to the United States where she grew up in Culbertson and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1930.
On Sept. 21, 1932, she married Andrew Jacob Alberts at Culbertson. They spent their married lives at Culbertson where her husband owned and operated A & M Oil Company from 1935 until retiring in 1968.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew in 1997; two brothers, LeRoy Schlager and Jake Schlager; and two sisters, Elizabeth Wagner and an infant sister.
Survivors include one son, Neil Alberts and wife, Joyce of St. George, Utah; two daughters, Laureen and husband, Ron Friederich of Bellevue and Lynda and husband, Harry Luden of Martinez, Ga.; one brother, Henry Schlager Jr. of Trenton; two sisters, Maria Turner of Norton, Kan., and Eleanor Smith of Culbertson; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Bryan Hopfensperger officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson.
