Alta Neva Lashley, 95, died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was born, March 14, 1907, in Chase County near Wauneta to Zebedee Delmer and Lulu Hariet (Davis) Hill. She attended school in rural Chase County.
She married Charlie Lashley here in McCook on June 15, 1926. She was a wonderful caregiver to many people when they were in need. She worked at Ed's Grill and the Chief Cafe. She was active in the YMCA Women's Water Aerobics. She loved her family, cooking and gardening with vegetables and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charley on Nov. 18, 1962; a daughter, Charlene in 1933; a grandson, Ricky Eugene Carter in1966; four brothers, Bill Hill, Ray Hill, Paul Hill and Dewey Hill; and four sisters, May Perich, Millie Lee, Valetta Smith and Alice Weber. She is survived by a daughter, Lulu Mae and husband, Richard Carter of McCook; one grandson, Charley Carter and wife, Janelle and four great grandchildren, Kirsten Anderjaska, Jacob, Joshua and Joel Carter.
Funeral services will be Friday, at 2:30 p.m., at the McCook United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in McCook.
Memorials may be given to the McCook YMCA or the McCook Senior Center.
